Newbridge Memo

The phased restoration, conversion and extension of a Grade II listed workingmen’s institute and Grade II* listed memorial hall. The institute will be converted for use as a local authority Information Resource Centre (with first floor multifunction community rooms) whilst the hall will retain its original uses of ballroom with auditorium above. A replacement link extension will house the facilities needed to allow the existing buildings’ modern day reuse (as well as providing a new communal entrance) and is designed to contrast with the heavy masonry of the existing buildings. The existing buildings will also receive full replacement services and wherever possible will be upgraded to make more efficient use of energy.
