Alwyn Jones

Alwyn has been involved with building conservation in a professional capacity for over 25 years. He studied at The Welsh School of Architecture from 1971 to 1977 and started his career as an architect specialising in conservation when he was responsible for the repair and restoration of a Grade I listed Elizabethan manor house in the early 1980’s. This project inspired him to develop his understanding of old buildings and by 1988 he had been appointed as Conservation Architect for a Cardiff based architectural practice before establishing Alwyn Jones Architects in 1992.

Despite having worked with old buildings for nearly three decades his enthusiasm for understanding buildings, recognising their particular significance and developing a solution for best use still remains. He aspires to high standards in all the work he undertakes, including the work produced by his practice.
